When Windsor Middle School custodian Julio Rodriquez Sr. went to work Monday morning, he had no idea he would be headed to the unemployment office by lunchtime.
He had been on the job for about a half hour when his manager told him that he was being laid off. Several of his co-workers were also let go on Monday morning, but he was not sure how many, he said.
Rodriquez, 64, worked for the school division for over two years, and had been working for the new contractor, SSC Service Solutions since July, when they took over custodial duties in Isle of Wight Schools.
