      The Smithfield Times now offers subscriptions in digital format for $12 a year — or 25 cents per issue.
       A digital subscription is an exact copy of the newsprint edition, but instead of a physical newspaper, you get a computer file e-mailed to you each week.
      The computer file — a PDF, which opens in Adobe Acrobat — will open on a PC or a Mac and is viewable from any location that you can access your e-mail.
      The digital version has excellent image and color quality, and you can zoom, print, cut out and hang your favorite pictures or stories just like you would with the newsprint edition.
