Isle of Wight County Rescue Squad

The new Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad building opened Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed with an open house Saturday. The new building includes a community room for public use, an 80-person training facility and the only FAA designated helicopter pad in the county. “It’s like going from the outhouse to the White House,” said Windsor Supervisor Dee Dee Darden comparing the old building with the new facility on Great Spring Road in Smithfield.
