Louise Pippins Whitley

WINDSOR — Louise Pippins Whitley, 81, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, after a brief illness. The daughter of the late James Monroe and Minnie Bell Cones Pippins, Louise was a native and lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County. 
The wife of the late William Mason Whitley Sr., Louise was passionate about the outdoors and often worked alongside him on the family farm.  She was an active member of the Suffolk Moose Lodge.
Most importantly, Louise was a devoted and beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She enjoyed cooking and sewing.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Louise is preceded in death by a son, Steven T. Whitley, and a sister, Rosalee Maddrey.  She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters, Shirley Barncord (Gary), Joanne Dennis, Sue Goerger (Bob) and Darlene Whitley; a son, William M. Whitley, Jr. (Robin); a sister, Jean Oliver (Floyd); a brother, John Randolph Pippins (Joanne); seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and extended family.
A graveside funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 25, 2 p.m. in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk, with the Rev. Dr. Donald R. Rhoton officiating.
The family suggests memorial contributions to a local rescue squad.
Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
