The proposed 12-cent hike in the real estate tax drew little comment at a public hearing Thursday on the county’s fiscal 2015 budget.
Many of the residents who spoke were concerned with the future of the Isle of Wight County Museum, which is slated to lose its three full-time employees and faces possible closure.
The only comment by the Board of Supervisors was from Smithfield Supervisor Al Casteen, who made a request on behalf of Social Services Director Pam Barton for an additional $45,000 due to decreased state and federal funding.
