The Virginia Department of Transportation is hosting a series of town hall meetings over the next two weeks to reassure residents that the Route 460 project isn’t dead, according to spokesperson Susan Clizbe.

VDOT will also present five alternatives, along with a no-build option of the 55-mile span of highway from Petersburg to Suffolk.

Delegate's complaint aired in secret

The Isle of Wight Board of Supervisors went into closed session Thursday for two items that called into question whether they actually qualified for closed-door discussions.

When asked, three of the five supervisors weren’t really sure why those items were in closed session either.

“I really don’t know. That was up to (county attorney) Mark (Popovich) and (county administrator) Anne Seward,” said Board Chairman Buzz Bailey.
