Bria to perform live on NBC

Smithfield's own Bria Kelly will perform live on NBC's "The Voice" beginning Monday, April 21 after making the cut Tuesday night.It was Bria's first solo performance since the auditions began, and she sang "Wild Horses" by The Rolling Stones. Modern law will be the rule for 40-year-old rape case

Modern criminal law will prevail in a rape case dating back 40 years and scheduled for trial in Isle of Wight County Circuit Court.
Danny Steve Edwards, 63, is accused of raping a 13-year old girl in 1973, and the case is allegedly supported by DNA evidence, according to the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office.
Because the alleged rape occurred four decades ago, however, the laws have since changed, prompting Edwards’ attorney to file several motions concerning the use of the state’s “rape shield” provision, as well as the reasonable resistance rule. . ...(Subscribe!)
