Mark Marshall came to Smithfield as a police officer when I was a member of Town Council. His work ethic and ability to work with others later led Town Council to recommend the hiring of Mark as Smithfield’s police chief in 1992. In that capacity he demonstrated his strong leadership and management skills. In 2010 he was elected president of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, known worldwide, making Smithfield especially proud.
Those skills and his integrity continue in his present service to our county as sheriff. Mark and his officers and staff worked diligently to become accredited in Smithfield in 2000. When elected as sheriff, he promptly embarked on the comparable accreditation for the county sheriff’s office. It was achieved with distinction in 2014. Accreditation is difficult to achieve and assures the county citizens that, under the leadership of Sheriff Marshall, the officers and staff of the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office have prepared themselves to provide the best services to our county.
Mark has worked to great advantage with those funds that have been allocated by the Board of Supervisors. Mark Marshall has displayed the ability to service our county in outstanding ways with the ethics, enthusiasm and management abilities we all want.
I ask county voters to join me in voting for Mark Marshall to continue his position as Isle of Wight’s sheriff.
