Eula Onetia “Boots” Thomas

SUFFOLK — Eula Onetia “Boots” Thomas, 100, died Oct. 9, 2015.  A native of Surry County, she was the youngest of eight children.  She was the widow of James Marvin Thomas.  “Boots” started working at age 16 for C & P Telephone Company, retiring at age 55 as administrative employment supervisor for Verizon.   A devoted member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church since 1960, she also was a member of Junto Woman’s Club having been a Club member for more than 60 years.  Survivors include her daughter, Joan Lee Mikulas and husband Martin of Smithfield; five grandchildren, Martin Mikulas III, Cathy Lane Sutherland, Thomas Keith Jenkins, Mark Wren Jenkins and Lee-Ann Jenkins; three great-grandchildren, Martin Mikulas IV, Sydney Sutherland and Jeremiah Jenkins; and many nieces and nephews.  
A viewing will be held Monday Oct. 12, 6-7 p.m. at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Suffolk.   A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 11 a.m. in Ebenezer United Methodist Church by the Rev. Carl LeMon.  A reception will follow immediately after the service in the church Family Life Center.  Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News at 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ebenezer UMC.  www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com
