For the past two years, it has been my great pleasure to get to know Sheriff Mark Marshall and his department. I am a former state trooper from North Carolina who moved to Virginia two years ago. I left law enforcement to pursue a career in the private sector with a Fortune 500 company 32 years ago. Since that time, I have been associated with law enforcement across the United States.
A friend asked, “What do you want to do when you grow up?” I told him I wanted to give back to the law enforcement community. To do this, I have been serving as a volunteer chaplain to the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s Office. From a professional perspective, I have never met such an outstanding group of individuals.
They say that the performance of a group is indicative of its leadership. With that in mind, I have to tell you that as of now, Isle of Wight has the right individual at the helm of its law enforcement community. I would urge the citizens of Isle of Wight to keep him in office. He is the future of our successes as a community.
