It is an honor to have the opportunity to write in support of Kirstin Cook as she runs for the Isle of Wight School Board in the Smithfield district. Kirstin is a dedicated person with the vision, focus and drive to create positive change for the children of our county as demonstrated by her involvement in the workings of our schools as a parent, a member of the Education Foundation board, and a key player in the Parents 4 IWCS campaign. Her intimate knowledge of the challenges facing our County and her leadership skills will certainly serve to better our schools and community.

I first met Kirstin three years ago as we worked together to raise awareness of the impact that the proposed budget cuts would have on the County’s schools and children. She was instrumental in getting the key players together at the table to allow an opportunity to reconcile differences and move forward together in the best interest of the County’s schools.

It has also been a distinct honor to serve with her on the Education Foundation board, raising additional funds for the schools, which support unique programs that would otherwise be impossible to implement.

Kirstin has displayed her passion for the community and exemplary work ethic time and time again. With her background knowledge of the school system, her desire to make a difference, and her proven track record of enacting positive change, Kirstin Cook is the right choice for School Board.
