While I do not live in the Smithfield District and cannot vote for Kirstin Cook, I do not have any doubts about what she will accomplish for our schools when she gets elected to the School Board. I met Mrs. Cook almost five years ago when we volunteered together for our ladies church circle and quickly realized how much time she gives to help others. Soon after that, we were both on the Education Foundation for Isle of Wight Public Schools Board where Mrs. Cook has devoted four years of her time, including this year as our president, to raising money to fund grants for our teachers and schools. Under her leadership and guidance this year we will be able to award numerous grants around the county that will reach most of our students.

As a former educator and parent of two Isle of Wight students, Mrs. Cook understands what is needed to continue moving our schools in the right direction. Her drive, determination and focus make her the clear choice to advocate for our children, our teachers, our schools and our county. Mrs. Cook will be an asset to the Isle of Wight County School Board and, if she is elected, our children will benefit greatly!
