Louise (Lou) Quidley Blake

WINDSOR — Louise (Lou) Quidley Blake died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015.  She was born April 9, 1936 in Gull Rock, Hyde County, N.C., which she loved dearly, and was predeceased by her parents, two brothers and one sister. 

She is survived by her loving husband, William (Bill) David Blake Jr., son, Joseph Michael Stephens, daughter, Karla Stephens Cobb (Tim), all of Windsor; an aunt, although more like a sister, Sylvia Hanna of Chesapeake; six grandchildren, Mandy Burkhardt (Jerry), Christopher Stephens (Jeannette), Brittney Cobb, Kriston West (Josh), Brooks Stephens, Hunter Stephens; 11 step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters in law, Joyce Strickland (Mike) of Chesapeake and Nancy Rountree (Bobby) of Suffolk;  stepdaughters: Julie Prjytula, Angel Brown (Randy), Mary Lou Heskje (Gary) and Traci Blalock (Barak). Lou grew up in Franklin and lived in Currituck County the majority of her adult life.  She was active in civic organizations, was founder and president of the Beechwood Shores Home Extension Club and received various awards for her volunteer work.  She was wed to Bill Blake in 1984 and they have enjoyed many years of memories together. They moved to Windsor in 2011, where they are members of Elevate Church.  Lou was an eternally optimistic person, strong in her Christian faith and tested by many adversities throughout her life. She never gave in and refused to consider giving up.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 5-6 p.m.  Service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 3p.m. Both will take place at Parr Funeral Home, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk. Visitors are welcome at other times at the home of Karla and Tim Cobb.  Donations can be made in Lou’s memory to Elevate Church or the American Cancer Society.  Condolences may be registered online at www.parrfuneralhome.com.
