Mary A Welfling, the sweetest and most caring lady you could have known, was called by her Lord at the age of 95 on Feb. 21, 2016 at the Sentara Careplex Hospital in Hampton. She was the wife of the late John J. Welfling.

Born in Manhattan, N.Y. on Sept. 21, 1920, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Engel Weber. Some of Mary’s fondest memories are of growing up in New York City. Mary and her family then moved to Reading, Penn. and then decided Lebanon, Penn. is where they wanted to live. She was the co-owner of the Cleo Knitting Mills with her late husband. She enjoyed the Sunday family dinners. She was a champion bowler and enjoyed being a member of the Verbena club where she attended church at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church. When Mary moved to Smithfield in 2000, she became a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and was active in the Ladies Guild. Mary loved to spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed singing and dancing whenever she heard music, and found comfort with her two dogs, Shadow and Pepper.

Surviving is a son John A. Welfling of Dover, Del.; daughters Victoria Welfling of Fla. and Caroline, wife of James “JD” Frantz, of Smithfield; grandchildren, Lisa, wife of David Wysocki, Kathy, wife of Rodney Harrison, Diane, wife of Rick Richard, Adam Frantz and Carly Frantz, seven great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; and a special cousin, Elisabeth Jilly of Schaumburg, Ill.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 26, 2 p.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 E. Main St. Annville, Penn.

There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lebanon, Penn.
