Violet Whitley Knick

Violet Whitley Knick, 99, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016, following a brief illness.

Born in Isle of Wight County on Dec. 31, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Armistead and Elizabeth Bain Whitley.  In addition to her parents, Violet is preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Whitley Worthington (L.D. Worthington Jr.) and Eleanor Whitley Owen.

Violet will be remembered as one with a heart of gold.  She was proud of her home and loved her family.  She was passionate about nature and was an avid gardener and loved flowers and bird watching.  She was one that volunteered and gave of her time and efforts to the community and anyone in need.

She leaves to cherish her memory her nephew, Leslie D. Worthington III, and his wife, Betty Blaine Worthington; great niece, Whitley W. Morris and her husband, Parke, and their children; and nephew, L. Dodson Worthington IV and his wife, Allison, and their children; and a host of loyal and dedicated extended family, including Richard Hundley; and friends, both young and old.

A graveside funeral service will be Tuesday, April 26, 11 a.m., in the Bain Family Cemetery, 15363 Ivor Road, Ivor, with the Rev. Becky Gwaltney officiating.
