Edwin Goodson Gatling, Sr., 91, passed away at home Friday, March 30, 2018.  Born in Isle of Wight County on the Gatling farm, Ed was the son of the late Langley Tayloe Gatling and Margaret Goodson Gatling.

Ed attended Virginia Tech studying mechanical engineering and was an employee of Newport News Shipbuilding for more than 40 years.  Prior to the shipyard, he owned a boat building business in Hampton with his brother.

In 1987, when the farm was sold, now Gatling Pointe, Ed moved to Windward Towers in Newport News.  Ed loved spending time with family and friends whether it be boating, fishing, or traveling the world. With his gift of gab, and sense of humor, Ed never met a stranger; to know him was to love him; he was genuinely a good man, fun loving, laid back, good natured and generous to all.
