Luther M. Thorn, Jr., 92, passed away peacefully on Sept. 19, 2018 in Spring, Texas.  He was born in Smithfield on Feb. 14, 1926.

He is survived by his children, Marilyn Thorn, Mark Thorn, Carolynn Baxter, Darion Thorn and Beverly Powers.  

He was a retired combat engineer with the U.S. Marine Corps.
