Michel Phillip (Mike) Corbin, 69, of Smithfield, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 3, 2019 after a short illness. He was born in Petersburg, and is the son of the late Edward Roy Corbin and Jacqueline G. Corbin of France. He grew up in Newport News and graduated from Bad Kreuznach American High School in Germany in 1967.  He served in the Army during Vietnam as a medic and was known to all who served with him as “Doc,” and he was patriot who loved his country.  He was hard working, dedicated to his family, faithful to God, a lover of music and had an undying sense of humor.  He often said his favorite word to hear was Grandpa.  He was a member of Smithfield Assembly of God and was faithful to the Praise and Worship Team where he sang and played guitar.

Left to cherish his memory, is the love of his life, his wife of 37 years, Susan (Susie) Cutchins Corbin; a daughter he adored and who knew his sense of humor better than anyone, Jennifer R. Ferguson (Joe); his faithful dog and companion, Remi; grandchildren, Kaleigh, Zack and Zoe; brother, Gary J Corbin (Karen); sister, Carolyn R. Parkerson (Donnie); son, Haden C. Corbin.

A funeral service was held Jan. 5 at Smithfield Assembly of God Church with burial to follow in St. Luke’s Memorial Park.
