PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD SPECIAL USE PERMIT

 

Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Planning Commission at The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, Smithfield, Virginia, on Tuesday, June 9th, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. to consider the application of Robert and Anne Little, applicants, for a special use permit under the provisions of Article 3.I, Section C.30 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, in order to approve an SUP for a “waiver of parking and loading requirements”- specifically the elimination of the prohibition of front yard parking provision of SZO Section 3.I.C.28.

 

The property which is the subject of this special use permit application is located at 1409 S Church St (Tax Map #21A-01-512 and #21A-01-512A). The parcels’ current zoning designation is Highway Retail Commercial (HRC) & Entrance Corridor Overlay (ECO).

 

Any person affected by or interested in the aforesaid application may appear at the hearing and be heard. Copies of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield and application for this special use permit are available for inspection in the town offices, 310 Institute Street, Smithfield, Virginia 23430.

Church Street, Smithfield, Virginia, on Tuesday, June 9th, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. to consider the application of Robert and Anne Little, applicants, for a special use permit under the provisions of Article 3.I, Section C.28 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, in order to approve an SUP for a “waiver of yard requirements, subject to the prohibition of parking in front yards”. Specifically, the applicant is seeking relief from SZO Section 2.P.5 & 13.B., allowing the retention of an accessory building in the front yard, with an encroachment of 16.8’, relief from SZO Section 2.P.12 & 3.I.E.2.b., allowing the retention of an accessory building in the side yard, with an encroachment of 13.8’, and the allowance of the paved walkway from the parking lot to the greenhouse and outdoor display area to cross over an existing lot line in a zoning district in which zero lot line development is not permissible.

The amount charged to Mathews residential customers is a flat rate based on an Equivalent Residential water Usage (ERU) of 12,000 gallons per quarter. All others, including commercial, government and professional customers, are charged based on a schedule of fractions or multiples of the ERU as appropriate for each customer category. This schedule is derived from information supplied by the Mathews County and may be subject to verification or revision.

 

For metered locations in the Lawnes Point subdivision of Isle of Wight County, accounts are billed the Sewer Rate published by Isle of Wight Public Utilities in addition to the Wastewater Treatment Rate listed in the aforementioned section 1. For metered locations in Small Communities not listed above, which are provided both wastewater treatment and collection services, the Total Wastewater Rate per 1,000 gallons shall be $13.43.

 

Metered customers must pay a minimum bill of $0.30 per day. Unmetered customers must pay the Flat Rate per day for their community, or a Flat Rate of $1.79 per day if not listed above.
