NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given that on August 4, 2020, the Town Council (the “Council”) of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia (the “Town”) will conduct a public hearing, which may be continued or adjourned, as required under applicable law, in accordance with Section 15.2-2606 of the Code of Virginia of 1950, as amended, with respect to the adoption by the Council of a resolution or resolutions, as may be necessary or convenient, regarding the proposed interim financing of certain infrastructure improvements. The purpose of the financing is for water and sewer utility system repairs and improvements, together with related engineering, administrative and financing costs (collectively, “the Project”). The Town plans to fund the Project through a line of credit evidenced by a general obligation note to be issued in a principal amount not to exceed $1,650,000.

The public hearing, which may be continued or adjourned, will be conducted at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, by the Council in Conference Rooms A & B at the Smithfield Center (220 North Church Street), Smithfield, Virginia. Interested persons may appear at such time and place and present their views whether orally or in writing, or submit written comments prior to the hearing. The Council may set time limits on speakers and other rules and procedures for the conduct of this public hearing. Any persons with disabilities are urged to contact the Town Offices at (757) 365-4200 prior to the public hearing to arrange for any necessary accommodations. Notice is hereby given that the Isle of Wight County Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, to consider for recommendation to the Board of Supervisors the following applications:

The application of Jeffrey A. Seward, owner, for a change in zoning classification from Rural Agricultural Conservation to Rural Residential and a waiver to Section 4-3004.B.3. of the Isle of Wight County Zoning Ordinance, that requires the lots be located on private shared driveway, with no frontage on the public road.
