The coronavirus pandemic cancelled several book signings Dale Jordan had lined up for 2020, but hasn’t stopped her from pursuing her literary aspirations.

In February, the Windsor children’s author had published her third book, “Fancy Pants Paige,” which tells the story of two friends who are very different from each other. As with her first book, “Yvette Likes School,” Jordan’s grandchildren served as her inspiration for her latest protagonist.

“My second granddaughter, she likes the latest fashion in clothing,” Jordan said.

Thanks to her publisher, Xlibris, “Fancy Pants Paige” is available for purchase from Amazon and Barnes & Noble, among other platforms. But securing promotional gigs is often up to her.

“I had two virtual events in the last month or two,” Jordan said. “Because of COVID-19, I try to be vigilant in securing readings and other virtual book events … I peruse the internet to see what’s out there locally and nationally, or even in other countries.”

Jordan recently secured gigs reading her second book, “Noah and Big Paws,” at Ruthy’s Reading Room in Canada and a virtual reading on the YouTube channel “Kids Fun Learning World” in the United Kingdom.

“For my fourth book, I am going to explore self-publishing to see if I can manage it,” she said.
