Norah K. Bennett passed away Dec. 2, 2020. Born in Lucknow, India on March 25, 1925, she was the third of 11 children born to Myra (nee Gardner) and Colin O’Brien. While in nurses’ training during World War II, she married U.S. Air Corps Sgt. Harold K. Bennett, and they traveled to the United States. Then, they shared 71 years of marriage. The first 40 years were spent in Ithaca, N.Y., where they raised five children, Eileen Cole, April Jahncke (Mike), Carolyn Bennett (Rob Booth), Patricia Halloran and Harold K. Bennett (Karen). She also has a sister and extended family in Australia, and brothers and extended family in Canada and the United Kingdom.
Loving warm weather, they retired to Florida in 1980, with homes in North Miami and Fort Pierce. They traveled to Ithaca every year to check in with their growing family, including eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Their last years were spent in Smithfield. Norah was predeceased by her husband in 2017.
Special thanks to the staff of Magnolia Manor in Smithfield for the great care they took of both of our parents.
