Trump too proud to admit defeat

Editor, The Smithfield Times:

President Trump needs to concede the election, and work with President-elect Biden on a good turnover and transition of power so the new administration can “hit the ground running”!

Donald J. Trump is not going to do that. I doubt if he will even show up for the inauguration. Pride! The Book of Proverbs states to us, “Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling.” That scripture seems very fitting for President Trump. Instead of being concerned about the present condition of America and the American people, the president is consumed with fighting our certified election results. He has only succeeded in creating more chaos and division.

One of the strengths of our Republic is the peaceful transition of power. He doesn’t want any part of it. Our court system has proven the wisdom of our Founding Fathers with separation of power. I am proud of how our judges, some appointed by Trump, have stood up against politics.

Looking at tweets from President Trump, I guess he figured on special treatment. He does not get it, and he never will. He is an elected president, not a king. The courts, now including the Supreme Court, interpreted the state’s laws in question, and found very little — definitely not enough to overturn any of the election results.

Trump and his people are “chasing their tails,” and they will not stop! There is a biblical litmus test for Trump. What are the “fruits” of his work? I think it is obvious!
