Editor, The Smithfield Times:

I first found out about the “Dec. 5th Windsor Traffic Incident” on Friday, April 9, via an article on vice.com. By Saturday morning, the “story” had been picked up by The Associated Press and appeared on WAVY Channel 10.

Given the “traffic stop” happened in early December last year I wondered how it was that I heard about it so many months later by such a circuitous route. I wonder if it was in the paper at the time in a tiny paragraph of “Windsor Police Report,” with the location, charge and a few details.

As near as I can tell, this “situation” in which we now find ourselves reflects on all of us. As a friend of mine said, “This is not how I wanted to see Windsor make the national news.” I’m thinking, “How we move forward matters.”
