Carol Lee Scott Wood

Carol Lee Scott Wood, 76, of Windsor, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021.

She was born Oct. 3, 1944, in Pricehill, W.Va., to the late Freeland and Louella Scott, a coal miner’s daughter, and lived in coal camps in her early life.  She attended elementary school in a two-room school in Sand Branch, W.Va., and graduated high school from Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, W.Va. She went directly to Washington, D.C., to work for the Department of Agriculture, leaving there to come to Portsmouth and work for the Health Department until 1969. In 1980, she began chicken farming until she retired in 2002.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Cleve Eugene Wood; two sons, Gregory Mark Wood (Holly Lynn Wood) and Jeffery Scott Wood (Laurie Robertson Wood); and two cherished grandchildren, Christina Ann Wood and Tyler Scott Wood.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 11, 2021, at Central Church of Christ, 204 S. Church St., Smithfield. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the church. Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
