Happy 119th Birthday Ham

The World’s Oldest Ham celebrated its 119th birthday last weekend.
The fun started with a sleepover party with roughly 20 of the ham’s closest friends — stuffed animals brought in by local children.
The following morning, each child received a letter from their sleepover friend with a clue as to where they could be found in the museum. Each child got to look for their stuffed animal.
At the birthday party on Saturday, there was cake and a few rounds of pin the tail on the donkey. Guests also made birthday cards for the ham. Hillary White of the Blackwater Regional Library read stories to partygoers and offered some free books to guests. A P.D. Gwaltney Jr. interpreter was a special guest and posted for photos with a 3D-printed and painted copy of the World’s Oldest Ham courtesy of VCU’s Virtual Curation Laboratory.
