Donald Joseph Smutny, 70, of Smithfield, went to be with the Lord, on Monday, Aug. 30, 2021.

He was the son of the late Charles Joseph Smutny and Alice Mary Wirthman Smutny. He is survived by his wife, Mun Chong Smutny; and a brother, Robert Michael Smutny (Laura).

Mr. Smutny retired from the U.S. Air Force with 25 years of service. In his retirement, he enjoyed being a HAM Radio Operator and was part of the American Radio Relay. He was a charter member of Harvest Fellowship Baptist Church.

A funeral service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Harvest Fellowship, 19290 Battery Park Road, Smithfield.
