St. Luke’s Historic Church & Museum has canceled this year’s “17th Century Isle of Wight County: A Living History Event” due to the resurgence of COVID-19 cases locally and nationwide.

The annual September event typically features historians in period costumes, presentations and vendors on the grounds of Virginia’s oldest church building.

“Our team has been closely monitoring public health reports associated with the lingering Covid-19 pandemic and determined that we cannot provide a quality event while still protecting the health and safety of our participants, guests, staff, and volunteers,” states an email from St. Luke’s. “This decision was not made lightly given the popularity of this annual event and we ask for your patience and understanding as the Covid-19 pandemic continues. We fully intend to resume next year, September 10-11, 2022.”
