Early in-person voting for the Nov. 2 election begins Sept. 17.

Registered voters can visit their county registrar’s office Monday through Friday during normal business hours to cast their ballots ahead of election day.

Isle of Wight’s Registrar’s Office, located at 17106 Monument Circle, is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Surry’s is located at 45 School St. and open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Surry’s office will be closed on Indigenous People’s Day, Oct. 11.

Per a 2020 change to state law, voters no longer need to declare a reason for voting early or requesting an absentee ballot.

Oct. 22 is the last day to request an absentee ballot be mailed to you, and Oct. 30 is the last day to vote early in-person.

Isle of Wight and Surry’s registrar’s offices will also be open Oct. 23 and Oct. 30 for early voting on Saturdays — Isle of Wight from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Surry will be open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 23 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 30.

Isle of Wight’s registrar’s office will also be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23 and Oct. 30, for early in-person voting. You can drop off your absentee ballot at the registrar’s office anytime up to 7 p.m. on Election Day.

For those who haven’t registered to vote, the deadline to do so is 5 p.m. Oct. 12 in-person or by mail, and 11:59 p.m. that same day if registering online.

Virginians can register to vote, check their registration status, find their polling place or apply for an absentee ballot by visiting: vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation.

In 2020, Virginia’s General Assembly repealed the requirement that voters show a form of identification containing a photograph in order to vote. Voters can now cast their ballots by showing the confirmation documents they received after registering to vote or one of the following:

• Virginia DMV-issued Driver’s License or Identification Card
• Valid United States Passport
• Any ID card issued by the U.S., Virginia or a local Virginia government
• Any student ID card issued by a U.S. university or community
• Valid student ID issued by a public school or private school in Virginia
• Employer-issued photo ID card
• Nursing home resident ID
• Valid tribal enrollment or other tribal ID
• Any current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document with your name and address
• An ID Confirmation Statement
