Three-vehicle crash involves school bus

No students reported injuries following a three-vehicle crash involving a school bus on Oct. 21.
According to Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department officials, the collision occurred on Smiths Neck Road at 3:15 p.m. when one vehicle rear-ended another, pushing the second car into the school bus. The driver of the car that struck the school bus was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News for evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries.
There were 53 students and one driver onboard the bus at the time, according to Isle of Wight County Schools spokeswoman Lynn Briggs. According to VFD officials, about half of the students were collected by their parents, with IWCS dispatching another school bus to transport the remaining students.
