Lloyd Robert Enix Jr. passed away on Oct. 24, 2021, at home with his family.

Born on Nov. 9, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, Lloyd served in the Air National Guard while earning a business management degree from Eastern Michigan. An intelligent and hard-working man, in 1982, Lloyd was hired by Smithfield Foods as an industrial engineer manager. Lloyd had an impressive, 20-year career at Smithfield Foods, eventually becoming vice president of operations before retiring in 2001 to open his restaurant, Panevino. Though he grew up in Detroit, and spent most of his life in Smithfield, Lloyd was happiest at the beach, and loved playing in the ocean like a kid and falling asleep in the sand. Lloyd was larger than life — at 6’6, he filled a room just by entering it, but he was a gentle giant, whose greatest joy was holding a baby. Generous to a fault, Lloyd is remembered as always being the first to reach for the check and never arriving anywhere empty-handed. Everywhere he went, people knew Lloyd by name — he was a man of endless stories who knew no strangers. Lloyd loved food and enjoyed cuisine of all kinds. He enjoyed the finer things in life and the simple things, and could be found at a dive diner for breakfast and a Michelin Star restaurant for dinner. Lloyd embraced experiences. He loved sports (particularly football) and the arts, especially concerts and movies. His family also fondly describes him as a zealous reader who devoured books of every genre.  Lloyd Enix was a man who loved people, experiences and a good time. He was emphatic about people having fun and thrived when surrounded by his loved ones. He was a charismatic man to whom small talk came easy, which is why he never knew a stranger.

Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd Richard Enix (Bertha), of Florida, and Vesta Beatrice Dakasian (Arthur), of Michigan. He is survived by his children, Amanda Horvath, of Riverview, Michigan, Roxanne Daniel (Joe), of Carrollton, and Barrett Enix (Tara), of Glen Allen; his grandchildren, Anthony, Avery, Cooper, Oliver, Lily and Declan; his sister, Laura Glidden (Gary), of Texas; his girlfriend, Diane McLaughlin; and many friends and family.
