Amy Ballard Hutchinson

Amy Ballard Hutchinson, 42, of Smithfield, went to be with her God and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her devotion to family and strong belief in God supported her through this struggle and ultimately brought her peace.

Amy was born to Larry and Lynn Torrey on Aug. 6, 1979, in Norfolk. She spent her younger years in Norfolk before relocating to Smithfield, where she attended Smithfield High School. Amy was a dedicated employee, serving as an essential member of the Walls Insurance Agency for more than 20 years. Amy was an active member of Harvest Fellowship Baptist Church, where she spent much of her time in worship, fellowship and service.

Beloved wife and mother, Amy was known for her selflessness, determination and devotion to her loved ones. She married the love of her life, Raymond “Joey” Hutchinson, on April 16, 2016, combining six beautiful children into a large and loving family. Amy served as a testament to the power of unconditional love and was always happiest when surrounded by her family and friends, sharing laughs, and making memories.

Amy is survived by her husband, Raymond “Joey” Hutchinson; their children, Macy, Brandon, Amber, Bella, Maddox and Michael; her mother, Lynn Torrey; her brother, Michael Torrey and wife, Autumn, brother, Jonathan Torrey and wife, Deidre; grandmother, Virginia Mollura; and parents-in-law, Mark and Garnett Hutchinson, and Mayrene and Ron Graef; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29, 2021, at Harvest Fellowship Baptist Church located at 19290 Battery Park Road in Smithfield. The family will receive visitors prior to the service from 1 to 1:30 p.m. and a reception to follow the service. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, Northern Suffolk Chapel is serving the family.
