Lillian Virginia Scott Dillon, 87, passed away peacefully at home on Jan. 27, 2022.

Virginia, as she was known to family and friends, was born Jan. 18, 1935, in Newport News, to Jesse J. and Lillian Majette Scott. Virginia was a graduate of Smithfield High School and Westhampton College—University of Richmond. She was an accomplished organist and pianist, and taught piano lessons in her home for more than 40 years. She was active as the pianist for the Hilton Baptist Church Singing Saints for a number of years. When in her 70s, she embarked on a new hobby with her husband as an alpaca farmer and breeder, a pastime she thoroughly enjoyed. Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Alvin C. Dillon; daughter, Renee Lockwood (John); son, Scott Dillon; granddaughter, Jessica Moore (Derrick); grandsons, Nathan and Nash Dillon; and two great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Glenn Allen Scott.

The family would like to thank the dedicated caregivers who have been so caring and attentive to Virginia for the past several years. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Jan. 31, 2022, at Little’s Funeral Home, 1515 S. Church St., in Smithfield, with a funeral service to immediately follow by the Rev. Lynwood Wells. The family will have a private burial service at St. Luke’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Mary K. Gale Music Scholarship, c/o www.smithfieldbaptist.org or the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
