A Smithfield woman died early Saturday in a three-vehicle wreck on Route 10 just east of Route 258.
Amanda Violet Neely, 33, of the 18200 block of Hollydale Lane died on impact in the wreck at 4:17 a.m., Virginia State Police said in a news release.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Toyota Camry, driven by Neely, was traveling west on Route 10 when it crossed into the eastbound lane and struck a 2013 Volkswagen SUV head-on.
As both vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lane, a 1997 Ford pickup traveling east struck both vehicles.
The driver of the pickup, Michael Durane Stephenson, of Spring Grove, was uninjured. The driver of the Volkswagen, Casey James Hodge, 23, of Windsor, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Riverside Regional Hospital in Newport News.
Neely was not wearing a seatbelt, and speed and alcohol contributed to the crash, State Police said.
