Sallie Brock Wells, 81, of Smithfield passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022. Mrs. Wells was born on January 7, 1941 in Isle of Wight County, VA, the daughter of the late Otis Gwaltney Brock, Sr. and Pearl Bradshaw Brock.  Mrs. Wells was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years James P. Wells.  She is survived by a daughter, Jeri Daniel (Danny); a sister, Stella B. Griggs; brother, Otis G. Brock, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wells was a lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County and farmed alongside her husband for many years. She worked at Little’s grocery store for twenty years. In the fall of the year, they enjoyed picking peanuts, the fall harvest on the farm and taking trips to the apple orchards in Virginia, where they would swap apples for fresh dug peanuts.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and crossword puzzles.

A funeral service will be held on Monday August 8, 2022 11 a.m. at Mill Swamp Baptist Church burial will follow in Mill Swamp Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
