Bette Lewis Withrow Raup, 93 passed away August 7, 2022 at home. Born in Wellsville NY on September 3, 1928. She was the oldest daughter of the late Jerry Lowell Lewis and Pearl Stephens Lewis of Salamanca, NY. Bette was preceded in death by her first husband Blair Lawrence Withrow, her second husband Robert Allen Raup, her son Blair Lawrence Withrow, Jr. (Larry) and her sister Sue Wight. Bette Raup is survived by three daughters, Linda J. Harms, Sally L. Jones (Danny), Cindy F. Borrelli; and four step-children Susan Sube (Ron), James (Jane) Raup, Thomas Raup, and Christopher(Julie) Raup; her brother Gary S. Lewis (Candace); seven grandchildren Emily S .Varner, Robert B. Harms, Rickee E. Jones, Chrissy Harlow (Mark), Annie Wilkins (Bray), Emily Raup (Eli Chanin), Raelyn Ziegler (Dan) ; five great grandchildren Olivia B. Harms, Addison S. Varner, Adaline Ziegler, Brandon Harlow, and Kaylin Harlow.

Bette graduated from Canonsburg Hospital Nursing School, Canonsburg PA and enjoyed a long and satisfying career in nursing. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonist, Daughters of the Union Veterans, Colonial Dames of the 17th Century and the Tidewater Genealogy Society. Both her and Robert were involved with genealogy research and taught genealogy classes while living in Florida. She is a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. She loved her time with family and friends as well as enjoying reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and spending time with TC, her cat.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday August 27, 2022 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 828 King’s HWY, Suffolk, VA 23432.

Following the service the family will receive friends at the Villa of Smithfields Clubhouse, 201 Villa Drive Smithfield Va. 23430.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bette’s memory to St. John’s Episcopal Church.
