Football and a birthday surprise

The Smithfield Packers Youth Sports football teams welcomed the Deer Park Titans to the Luter Sports Complex over the weekend. The 6-and-under Flag (Blue) team prevailed 25-6, while the tackle teams all fell.

The 10U squad, shown here taking the field, had a strong showing; the only points scored were on an errant snap and recovery in the endzone. Smithfield Packers Youth Coach FonTera Gaddis received a surprise birthday serenade, surrounded by members of the cheerleading team and members of the 10U team.

Separately, the Smithfield 6U Flag (Gold) team traveled to Coventry Elementary School in Yorktown to face the Tidewater Dawgs 757. The game was forfeited by the Dawgs due to not having enough participants at the start of the game, but the two teams scrimmaged, ending in a 6-6 stalemate.
