Winning Saturday for young Packers

Andrew Paquette makes a catch across the middle for the Smithfield Youth Packers 12-and-under team late in a 26-7 win over the Williamsburg Hornets (Black) at the Luter Sports Complex. In other action the 6U Flag (Gold) team fell to the visiting Tri-Citi Hurricanes, the 8U team blanked the Hornets 12-0, the 10U team fell 6-0 to the Hornets after a punt return for a touchdown in the final minute of the contest, and the 14U team welcomed the HPR Denbigh Patriots but came up short in a 6-0 overtime loss. The 6U Flag (Blue) team traveled to Poquoson Middle School and lost to the Back River Bulls (Black). For Week 11 (the final week of the regular season) the Packers will return to the Luter Sports Complex to host the 06U/08U/10U Tidewater Dawgs as well as the 14U VA Beach Mustangs. The 6U Flag (Gold) team will also be at home facing the Grafton Tabb Tigers. The 12U team will have a bye.
