The Virginia Department of Transportation will close a portion of Longview Drive (Route 602) starting as early as Nov. 9 for a bridge replacement project over Chuckatuck Creek.

The work will involve replacing the circa-1951 bridge with a new, 74-foot-long two-span bridge consisting of a 25-foot-wide roadway with one travel lane in each direction.

Access will be maintained to all existing private property and business entrances.

Motorists traveling north on Longview Drive will detour by turning right onto Audobon Road (Route 601), then left onto Everets Road (Route 603), another left onto Godwin Boulevard (Route 10/32) and left again onto Oliver Drive (Route 600).

Motorists traveling south on Longview Drive will detour by turning left onto Oliver Drive, right onto Godwin Boulevard, right again onto Everets Road and another right onto Audobon Road.

The project is anticipated to be completed in late spring. All construction work is dependent on weather conditions.
