Clara Virginia Catron Wellons, 100, went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Bertha Staley and Thomas Franklin Catron. She was predeceased by her husband John M. Wellons, Sr.; son John Wellons, Jr. and her 10 siblings.

Clara graduated from Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing in Roanoke VA in 1944. She was the wife of a Baptist minister and she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. In later years she did private duty nursing for family and friends in the community.

She is survived by her daughter Virginia “Jenny” Rhodes; son Mark Wellons; and granddaughter Lindsay Murray and husband Chris.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 11 AM at Central Hill Baptist Church, 10270 Central Hill Road, Windsor VA 23487. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. The burial will be held at Mill Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery after visiting with friends. R.W. Baker & Co.
