Club Treasurer Shawn Baughman said last year’s event netted close to $9,500 for Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society with chapters nationwide. This year’s tournament raised over $10,000.

“It was one of the best events we had in a long time,” Baughman said.

This year, in addition to donating proceeds to Relay for Life, the tournament made contributions to the Windsor High School Booster Club.

This year’s participants include boys and girls teams ranging in age from 9 to 14. Games were on Saturday and Sunday.

This year marks the 11th annual Kicking it for Cancer tournament.

The Smithfield Soccer Club is run by a board of directors consisting of President Robert Tucker VIce President Joe Daniels, Baughman as treasurer, Secretary Lizz  Renfro and Field Manager Dylan Tanney.
