Walter Henry Grizzard, Jr., 75, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023. He was born and raised in Smithfield, VA. He had been a resident of Virginia Beach since 2002. Walter was a devoted father who loved and cared particularly about the happiness and well-being of his children and grandchildren and his beloved wife. He was a graduate of Smithfield High School where he was an accomplished athlete as well as the drummer in his band The Trenchmen. After high school

He graduated from Christopher Newport College where he was a member of the inaugural basketball team. He was a Vietnam War era U. S. Army Reserves veteran. 

Walter worked in the food service and brokerage business for many years, culminating in the founding and management of a successful brokerage business, All Virginia Food Service Brokers. 

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Henry Grizzard, Sr. and Sarah Sibold Grizzard; and son John Duncan Grizzard. He is survived by his wife, Bobbye Grizzard; brother Phil Grizzard (Susanne); children, Mark (Connie) and Mila; stepson Joey Michaels; and grandchildren, Noah Nurney, Barritt Grizzard, and Logan Grizzard. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, as he will be missing from us in his person, although living in our hearts and thoughts for always.
