Padraic “Pat” Seosamh Soule, 71, of Smithfield, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. He was the son of the late Clinton Curtis Soule, Jr and Margaret Katherine Stearns Soule. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virginia “Ginny” Lathrop Soule; daughter Tiffany Marie Soule (Tyler); sister Kathleen Beaudoin (Raymond); brothers Michael Soule (Karen), Kevin Soule, and Shawn Soule. He was also preceded in death by a son, Brian Christopher Soule; a niece, Kayla Beaudoin; and a sister-in-law, Jolline Soule.

Pat served 20 years in the US Navy, retiring as a Senior Chief Personnelman in 1991. He started his career as an Honor Guardsman at Arlington National Cemetery. He met Ginny, a fellow sailor, in Hawaii where they were married in 1976. Pat had a second career with the US Postal Service in Norfolk and Hampton, and he retired in 2015.

Pat was a fanatical supporter of New England sports teams. After discovering family members in Ireland and making many trips there, he found he also loved the ancient Gaelic game of hurling. Pat’s faith was very important to him and he was very involved in his church with the Knights of Columbus, The Mens’ Club, and Parish Council.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, 11 a.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Smithfield, VA. Burial will take place at St. Luke’s Memorial Park in Smithfield for family only.
