Editor, The Smithfield Times:

This is in response to Caitlin McNiece’s letter (“Don’t blame the victim,” Jan. 17) regarding my, as she says, “disturbing” letter to the editor (“How to tell a man ‘no,’ ” Jan. 10). Her remarks about me were unkind and unjustified. 

I have a daughter too. God’s love applies to everyone in every situation. People know me and my character as I was married to Virginia State Police Trooper Elwin Kessler for 21 years before he went to heaven. We were always in the public eye. 

After reading the letter in response, I literally got sick and vomited. God is in control. Praise His name for loving me and finally giving me peace in this situation. I will pray and say no more.
