Smithfield High boys soccer team advances to state semifinals

Smithfield High School’s boys soccer team is one step closer to a state championship.
The Packers beat Mechanicsville 4-1 on June 4 to earn a spot in the June 7 Class 4 semifinals against Charlottesville at 9 a.m. at Western Albemarle High School in Crozet.
Tickets are $10 and cover admission to baseball, softball and girls soccer state semifinal games the same day. Buy tickets here.
If SHS beats Charlottesville, it will advance to the June 8 state championship game at 10 a.m. against the Jefferson Forest-Warhill winner. Tickets to the championship game are also $10 and available here.

Three other Smithfield High teams saw their seasons end with quarterfinal losses.
Girls soccer lost 4-0 to Hanover, softball lost 5-0 to Atlee and baseball lost 7-1 to Atlee.
Surry County High School’s baseball team lost 12-0 to Rappahannock in the Class 1 quarterfinals.
