Vivian Drewery Fitchett of Smithfield and Isle of Wight County passed away August 3, 2024.
She is survived by a brother, Carlton Drewery (Lola), her children, Mark Munford (Lisa), Paul Munford (Diana), Kathy Reynolds (Scott), Morgan Fitchett (Jamie), grandchildren Nicole Reynolds, Jessica Nightingale, Ian Nightingale (Katie), Hollyanne Callahan, Cameron Reynolds (Eleanor), Austin Reynolds, Brent Reynolds, Taylor Fitchett, Erica Munford, and James Fitchett. She had a special bond with her cousin, Jeanette Mason, which transcended time and distance – who was more like a sister than a cousin and many nieces and nephews.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Mark Earl Drewery and Nellie Wells Drewery, her husbands William “Billy” Munford Jr. and Charles Fitchett, her youngest brother Ronald Drewery (Iris) and her sister-in-law Rebecca “Becky” Munford and brother-in-law Joseph Munford.
Vivian was born on February 29, 1944 as a true leap year blessing. She was raised in the Raynor area of Isle of Wight County and graduated from Smithfield High School. She was fortunate to find love twice and enjoyed spending time with a large extended family. Vivian worked for several local businesses in the area, but her true joys were the beach, cooking, gardening, traveling, and her many pets. She was a member of several community groups through the years and a life-long member of the Central Hill Baptist Church. She adopted the friends of her children, especially those from IWA and JMU, and treated them like her own.
A funeral service performed by Rev. Tommy Reynolds will be held at Little’s Funeral Home on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11 AM with burial to follow at Mill Swamp Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at 10 AM before the service, also at Little’s Funeral Home. Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
