Since 2013, the Smithfield Little Theatre has hosted a summer camp for children interested in acting. This year’s multi-week camp wrapped up on Aug. 2-4 with three days of performances by children ages 7-12 of “Jack and the Beanstalk,” a country version of the classic tale set in the American Appalachian Mountains, and the school version of “Grease” by teenagers ages 12-18. Judy Post, who directed the program with her son, John, said this is the second consecutive year SLT has put on separate performances for younger and older age groups due to expanded interest in the program. Participants gained experience not only in acting but also set design and working backstage.
