Letter – Supports four who ‘will listen’

Editor, The Smithfield Times:
We’ve lived in Smithfield for over 20 years.
We have welcomed new residents. I understand that if we don’t grow, as a county and town, we are stagnant. New residents, ideas, input make us better as a town.
But in the last three years the rush to approve developments, without adequate vetting, interest in citizen input or ensuring infrastructure is in place, is not responsible leadership.
Mallory Point, with 812 new residential units, was approved in 2021. The Grange, with 267 new residential units, in the historic district, with little focus on, or concern with, impact on the current residents, is too much, too fast, with not enough interest in citizen input.
I will be supporting the candidates supported by the Citizen for Responsible Leadership in Smithfield. Mary Ellen Bebermeyer, Bill Harris, Darren Cutler and Mike Smith will listen to citizens and ensure we have the transparency in Smithfield town governance that is sorely needed. Please vote.
