The next winter storm to pass over Isle of Wight and Surry counties will bring more than a dusting, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS forecast as of 7 a.m. Feb. 17 called for 6 to 8 inches of snow across both counties, and up to a foot closer to Norfolk and the Peninsula, as a low-pressure system develops Wednesday and lifts northeast up the coast overnight into Thursday.

The snow is expected to start late Wednesday morning with the bulk of it arriving Wednesday afternoon and continuing into Thursday morning.
