Letter – Clarifies his position

Editor, The Smithfield Times:

At the Feb. 11 Windsor Town Council meeting, part of a letter that I sent to the council was presented in a way suggesting that I supported the Tidewater Logistics Center project.

I provided the council input about the proposed park, including accommodations for youth sports. After reading parts of my comments about the park, the mayor commented something to the effect that this person lives on Keaton. The opening lines of my letter were omitted and I want to make it clear to the citizens of Windsor and the Town Council that I am opposed to the project.

To repeat my opening lines that were omitted: “While I remain against the warehouse project in such a proximity to my home and the homes of my neighbor, I recognize that we are in an uphill battle at this point to come to a better project. I steadfastly believe that the project will have high potential for negative impacts to our community”.

I stand with my neighbors in opposition and suggest that the citizens of Windsor be cautious about the promises of good-paying jobs, the traffic not being worse and an economic boom for the business in town.
